Project brief

Opus Media (formerly Old Piano Films) a company owned by Paul Furlong, needed a website revamp due to their existing site being outdated and not mobile friendly. Paul was in the process of remarketing his company and required an online solution that suitably represented where his coming was heading and to compete with other similar companies in the region. Paul required a modern, dynamic and slick site that successfully showcased his work and could be used as a marketing tool.

Challenges

Competing with other websites in a sector is always a challenge so we had to create a site that was distinctive and punchy and quite obviously ‘different’. As a videographer and film-maker it was important that the videos were successfully displayed and accessible for all devices. Also, with his wide repertoire, the sectors and genres that Paul works within needed to be successfully compartmentalised to direct users to relevant information. In addition, Paul wanted to use the site to collect data via a sophisticated funnelling procedure which would lead visitors to pertinent video blogs and marketing materials.

Solution

We analysed the competition to see what we were up against. Once this analysis was done we focussed on how we could make the website different and memorable for the user while still satisfying the project objectives. The website was developed primarily from the videos point of view and the design gave ‘nods’ to a dark, 1930s, cinematic feel with a modern, clean and responsive layout. Navigation is logical with sectors clearly separated and the website was built with the features and capabilities for Opus Media to use it as, not only a showcase, but an active marketing tool.

Outcomes

Opus Media have an effective marketing tool which has the capability of generating interest and revenue for the company. Built using a flexible platform, Opus Media can create splash pages and online marketing facilities from the back end of the site which has meant that Paul can integrate his website with a social media campaign. We also supplied the SEO services for the site which is now residing comfortably on page one for various search terms and competing well with other comparable businesses in the region.
