The Queen’s Head Inn & Restauraunt

www.queensheadhawkshead.co.uk

Project brief

We built The Queen’s Head’s original website but as the world of web changes so quickly we were asked to redesign it for a modern browsing audience and make it responsive for all devices. The inn had had a refurbishment and required a website to reflect a more modern direction that the owners were pursuing with the business. The classic, cosy, olde-worlde elements needed to stay but combine it with a contemporary feel.

Challenges

The combination of old and new can be tricky to combine design-wise without something jarring. The owners are also turning over a considerable amount of money each year through visitors so any new website development had to aim to increase this. The inn has an excellent reputation and the new site had to reflect the quality and standard of service that visitors could expect during their stay.

Solution

We designed a beautifully clean, fresh and warm website. We stripped away much of the original superfluous content to ensure that web visitors would have a better experience when viewing on mobile devices. The inn and its environs are stunning so we made good use of the professional photographs sent to us by the owners. We also built the site using a content management system (CMS) enabling them to manage and maintain the site themselves.

Outcomes

We included some SEO work on the site and it is currently at the top of page one for related search terms. The owners are using the CMS effectively and using the website as a marketing tool for promotions, news and offers. Feed back to us has been very positive and the site suitably reflects the warmth and cosiness of the inn with their new, fresh, modern and progressive direction.
