Label Line UK/International
Label Line required a website that would showcase their products and services in three different languages. The site needed to systematically compartmentalise services and products and offer a range of other supporting material and information. The French and Spanish sites needed to be branded with the ‘international’ branding and be optimised for search terms.
The main challenges were collating all the content into logical sections and devising an effective and systematic site map. Translating the site into two other languages was also a key issue as there are numerous ways of achieving this each with their own drawbacks.
Due to the quantity of written and visual content we collated this first in order to logically group it into sensible sections to improve UX and navigation. The site was designed using existing branding and we introduced complimentary shades of blue to enhance design elements. Instead of using automated tools, such as Google Translate, for the French and Spanish users, we opted to create three separate sites on the same domain and have the English version properly translated. We created a spreadsheet with empty sections for the French and Spanish translations next to the copy taken from the completed English website. French and Spanish translators then systematically translated the copy for inclusion on the two cloned sites. A language selection facility was included to allow users to switch between versions but each site is coded to detect the users’ location and load the appropriate language.
Label Line have three sites that are the perfect mirror image of each other for customers speaking three international languages. All sites are optimised in these languages and we received acknowledgement from the Director on LinkedIn for the work we did. Really lovely clients, great communicators and we really enjoyed the complexities of this project.
